The Spirit of the Rules

The rules written here are meant to facilitate the smooth progression of the competition and help players and administrators resolve conflicts. The most important principle is that teams and players attempt, to the best of their abilities, to play and finish their matches regardless of what happens.
An infraction of the rules (breaking them) may cause a team to forfeit a game – take an automatic loss. Severe infractions of these rules may lead to a disqualification from the competition.

1.

Tournament Administration

1.1.

Challengermode Administrators

The tournament may have an individual admin (administrator) assigned as Head Admin of the tournament. However, questions and issues can be directed to, and handled by, any Challengermode admin and mod (moderator). The head admin's decision is final.
Who the head admin is will be clarified, if needed, before or during the tournament. If not explicitly stated, any member of the Challengermode admin team can serve as the head admin.

1.2.

On-platform messaging

The Challengermode platform has both a team and a private chat function, you can communicate with individual players or teams in the corresponding chat. To contact an admin, you should primarily use the support chat..

1.3.

Tournament chat

Each tournament may have a tournament chat in which discussions regarding the tournament can be held. If you are in urgent need of help from an admin, use the support chat instead.

1.4.

Chat language

English is the preferred and official language used in all public Challengermode chats. Whilst there are some admins or mods who are capable of communicating in other languages, it is preferable to keep all communication in English. Only English is allowed in the Community Chat.

2.

Suspensions

If a team has players currently suspended - the entire team will be disqualified from participation in the tournament.
Players who are currently suspended for violating our rules, be it short suspensions or extended permanent ones, will not be able to participate.

2.1.

Different types of suspensions

Cheating
Refer to this help article for details regarding our Anti Cheat Policies.

Toxicity
You can be suspended for Toxicity. If your toxicity is deemed extreme, you can be suspended during your first offense. Racism, sexism and threats are regarded as extreme toxicity. If a player has already received a warning earlier or is found to repeat his or her bad behavior one or several times they will get suspended. Two strikes and you're out.

You can read more about our Toxicity policy here.

Submitting a report is not an action a user should do precipitously, without proper cause. Before a user files a report the user needs to make sure it is done for a valid reason and that the evidence presented are legit evidence of the accused violating the rules and/or using cheats. Accusing in rage is to be avoided at all cost. If a user submits multiple false reports, he or she risks getting temporarily suspended. This includes all kinds of reports.

Abuse of admin / support chat
If a user contacts the admin support and exhibit false or staged evidence or make attempts to misguide or interfere with the ruling of a case, the user risk getting temporarily suspended.

3.

Rule Changes

Challengermode reserves the right to make changes to any of these rules before or during the tournament if it’s deemed needed to better comply with the intention of the rules, the spirit of fair play and the smooth progression of the tournament(s).

4.

Code of conduct

4.1.

Sverok Code of Conduct

We adhere to the principles laid out by the organization Sverok in their esports Code of Conduct. See An esports Code of Conduct to read or download it in English.

4.2.

Practice respect at all times

Regardless of time or medium, respect should be exercised at all times with anyone on Challengermode, be it staff or players.

4.3.

Misconduct and Unsportsmanlike Behaviour

This includes but is not limited to:

  • In-game
  • Chat
  • Challengermode platform
  • Social Media
  • Face to Face (IRL)

Toxic behavior, flaming and unsportsmanlike behavior are not allowed.

5.

Broadcasting

5.1.

Players broadcasting

Players may stream their matches using any platform for broadcasting. However, a delay must be created on the stream, and players are reminded to comply with the terms and conditions of the broadcasting platform.

Delay requirements for specific games

  • League of Legends: 3 Minutes
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: 3 minutes
  • PUBG: 7 minutes

5.2.

Broadcasting rights

Challengermode reserves the rights to use any material casted or streamed by a player when participating in Challengermode Tournaments.

6.

Participation stipulations

Entry into any Challengermode tournament means that you must comply with all of the rules within this document.

7.

Payouts

7.1.

Prize distribution

Tournament Prizes and the distribution of those prizes are handled by Challengermode unless otherwise noted. Monetary prizes will be distributed when the tournament has completed. Non-monetary prizes will be distributed as quickly as possible after the tournament has been completed.

7.2.

Disqualified teams

Disqualified teams lose the right to any part of the prize pool regardless of their position in the tournament when the disqualification occurs.

8.

Betting or gambling

Players or coaches, as well as Admin and administration staff from Challengermode, are prohibited from gambling or betting on any matches in any Challengermode tournament.

9.

Admin and Head Judge

Instructions and decisions made by Tournament Admins and the Head Admin are to be followed at all time.

10.

Grievances or disputes in a match

10.1.

Report a game issue

Any issues within a match or game need to be raised immediately. We will not be able to make changes to any match result after a tournament round has been completed. If possible, pause the match and call an administrator.

10.2.

Manual match decision

Decisions made by appointed Admin or the Head Judge are final. Regardless of the decision made, Admin and the Head Judge are to be treated and spoken to with respect, whether you agree with the decision or not. Any disrespect toward the Admin or the Head Judge will result in an immediate team disqualification.

11.

Ringers, Non-players accounts and account sharing

The players registered to the tournament are the only players permitted to participate. You may only play with the game account (Steam/Summoner) registered to the tournament on Challengermode.

Ringers or account sharing will result in disqualification.

12.

Confirm Participation

Each player (not only the team captain) in a team has to “Confirm Participation” for the team to join the tournament and be marked as “Ready”.
To do this, each player in the active line-up needs to go to the Overview page in a tournament and click “Confirm Participation”.

If a team does not do this in time, they won’t be seeded in the tournament and will not be able to join the seeded, started and now on-going tournament.

13.

Go-to-game countdown timer and walkover

As soon as the Challengermode game lobby has opened for both teams, the count down timer starts. When the countdown timer has reached zero both teams and every team member must have:

League of Legends
Joined the game lobby in League of Legends with the given tournament code and be ready to play. If any number of members from both teams are not present in the game lobby by that time, the game will be automatically cancelled and no team will win.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Joined the game server and readied up (by writing !ready in-game). If any number of members from both teams are not present in the game lobby by that time, the game will be automatically cancelled and no team will win.

In an elimination tournament, this means both teams may get disqualified.
If any number of members from one team are not present in the game lobby when the countdown timer has reached zero, that team will lose the game automatically.

PLEASE NOTE: Once the game result is reported and the tournament system has closed the game, the results are final and cannot be changed. Make sure you are ready to play the game on time to avoid losing by mistake!

14.

Automatic results

Match results are automatically reported to the Challengermode platform after a game has finished.

15.

In case of server error

In the instance of a bug or internal server error, teams may be required to provide written confirmation of the result or screenshots.

16.

Rounds and Matches

Matches will be played in the format detailed in the Tournament Overview. Matches in a round will occur concurrently (at the same time). After one match has finished, the next will start as soon as your next opponent is ready or when an admin starts the round.
The only times this may occur differently is:

  • When a match is streamed and you may be asked to wait until the casters are ready
  • When there is a set schedule for when the rounds are due to be played.
